I have read several references here on the RS forum about the wonderful organist and organ music at San Maria in Trastevere. When are these performances and how can I attend? I read that there is a pray service at the church each evening. Is this when you can hear the organist? If respectful are tourists invited to attend? How long is the service? Is the organ music part of the service or in addition? How long does the organist play? Long enough to make a special trip over to Trastevere in the evening? Sorry for all the questions but I used to play the organ at my church and I would love to hear organ music when in Rome. Thanks everybody.
Anyone is welcome to attend a service. They just don't want you walking around like a tourist. Sorry, I don't find any info about the organ music.
It looks like there is vespers M-F 8:30 PM. If you google the church, there is a schedule of all the services. Vespers may be chanted but not sure of organ music.
Eli, if you haven't already gone to Rome, there's a helpful link that discusses organ music in Roman churches here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187791-i22-k7822227-Attending_Mass-Rome_Lazio.html
