We are staying in the Trastevere area of Rome. Any recommendations for a nice place to eat dinner?
I have always been partial to Ristorante la Scala in Trastevere, located in the plaza of the same name. A bit upscale, decent menu with something for everyone, special seasonal menu items...probably have a separate truffle menu right now.
Other than that...Dar Poeta still does decent pizza, A lot of people like Nannarella Osteria or Tonnarello; I got the impression they were owned by the same people, the food is dependable and good...maybe not spectacular.
Trattoria da Enzo no 29 is often recommended, some famous TV chef went there. They do serve good solid Roman dishes, best known for their Cacio y Pepe, but they focus on a few good pasta dishes and some antipasti, well worth a lunch or dinner there.
Seen some people on here rave about Ristorante Carlos Menta, despite maybe 15 or more nights in the area over the years, just never been there.
Other places I enjoyed, but the last time were either gone, or lost some luster over the Pandemic.
Like Paul said, 'some people rave about Carlo Menta'. Well, I'm one of them! The food is real, the prices are not to be believed (in a good way!), and the place is always crowded with locals. Works for me!
Thanks for the tips. I’ve got two more nights. Going to try a couple.
hey hey jim
also agree with robert and carlo menta.
we enjoyed family style seating outside, shared a pizza, pasta with my friend and i got tartufo bianca and she got tartufo nero for dessert, & of course wine.
it was so so good and enjoyed the local people we shared a table with and "speaking" with our hands. after lunch we took a walk thru the jewish ghetto. fabulous day

I stayed in Trastevere in July & enjoyed the following two restaurants:
Rione 13, Piazza S. Cosimato - typical Roman Trattoria, reasonably priced, great service. Not touristy. Recommended by a Roman friend. Friends from Tuscany met us here for dinner & it got their seal of approval.
L'Elementare, Via Benedetta 23 - great Roman pizza & craft beer, lovely service, also not touristy.
