Trastervere vs Testaccio vs Monti for stay

We are looking for a 3 bed, 2 bath apt/house in Trastervere for Oct. I am not seeing a lot of availability on VRBO or Airbnb. (Is there another site to research on?) What does come up frequently are places in Testaccio and Monti neighborhoods. I am not familiar with these. Can anyone comment on those areas and how they stack up to Trastervere. Looking for an area with a nice vibe, not super touristy (if that is possible) and within walking distance of major sites.
Thanks for your help.

We've stayed in Testaccio four times and it is our favorite area of Rome to stay in. I recommend finding an apartment north of via Galvani and west of via Marmorata. Very non-tourist-oriented, great market and restaurants, trains to Ostia Antica and the airport, metro and buses to many places in Rome. You can walk to the non-Catholic cemetery, Trastevere, and the Baths of Caracalla, and it takes about half an hour to walk to the Colosseum or the Capitoline museum. Monte Testaccio is a large mound of ancient, broken Roman pots, and you can see places where the shards are exposed. We like the neighborhood being less busy and more ordinary than either Trastevere or Monti. It's 19th century four-story apartment buildings and there should be bigger apartments there for you.

We were in Rome just four weeks ago and enjoyed the Testaccio and Monti neighborhoods. Trastervere was clogged with wall-to-wall tourists. If you make it to Testaccio, the market is good and one of our favorite meals was lunch at Da Felice, via Mastro Georgio 29.

I've stayed in Monti both times I was in Rome and loved the neighborhood. There are lots of options for public transportation, especially if you stay relatively close to the Cavour metro stop, and lots of buses go down Via Nazionale on the north side of the neighborhood. Tons of great restaurants in the area and good grocery stores if you plan on cooking. I would highly recommend it if you can find a good place!!

Monti is a wonderful location. I just stayed there in March and I will stay there again. Very safe.

Having stayed in the Monti area near Termini Station 3 times. Lots of restaurants and safe, within walking distance to the Forum, Trevi Fountain but for the Spanish Steps you can use the metro and same to the Vatican. The Monti area has lots of hotels and B&Bs. More residential than some areas.
