Trapani airport to Palermo

Trying to find a way to get from the Trapani airport to Palermo on Friday Feb. 17 2023.
Salemi runs buses at 1 and 7:30 pm; my flight arrives at 1 pm.
Any suggestions on a way to get around the 6 hour wait?

It appears that the bus company Segesta (www.segesta.it) has departures from the city of Trapani to Palermo about hourly. The trip takes about two hours. If there isn't some sort of city bus to take you from the airport into Trapani, there should be taxis waiting at the airport. You'll need to do some online research to see where such a bus might drop you off, and where you'd need to go to catch the Palermo bus. It appears the latter originates in the area of the port but makes a few other stops in Trapani.

There are also trains from Trapani to Palermo, but they take a circuitous route, so they are very slow.

This should take you to the weekday bus schedule if you paste it into your browser:

https://www.segesta.it/travel-plan/solution.php?departure_stations=157&arrival_stations=170&departure_date=07/07/2022&arrival_date=&pax=1,0,0&t=0&keyword=TPL_NEW_HOME#dettaglio_fermate_a

(Sorry I can't turn that into a link on my tablet.)

Hmmm… It appears that the Salemi bus runs from the Trapani Airport to Palermo at 15:30 (3:30pm) except for Fridays and Sundays, so this doesn’t help you.

As Acraven has mentioned, you may consider taking a taxi (or bus) to Trapani, then the Segesta bus from Trapani to Palermo.
[I took the Segesta bus in reverse; Palermo to Trapani- please let me know if you have any questions about it]

So given these limited options, I would consider the following:

  • Reschedule your flight for another day when the 3:30 bus is running (but this means wasting a couple of hours waiting for the bus)

  • If your itinerary includes Trapani, start your trip there. After your visit, take the Segesta bus to Palermo.

  • Contact your hotel, or B&B, and ask if they can recommend or arrange a private transfer.

    • Cancel existing flight and fly to Palermo instead.

What’s your complete itinerary?

If your airline doesn’t fly to Palermo, perhaps you can fly to Catania?

Enjoy your time in beautiful Sicily!

A complex itinerary gets me to Trapani (not Palermo or Catania) on that Friday.
Acraven's suggestion about getting into Trapani for the bus to Palermo looks to be the way to go.
The Trapani airport-Palermo bus doesn't get in until nearly 10 pm, AND requires a 6 hour wait at the airport. I don't mind the taxi or bus into Trapani to get me Palermo sooner.
