Transportation to get to Venice

We are a family of 4 (two adults and two children) ending our cruise in Venice and plan to stay an extra two days there. I am looking for an inexpensive way to 1) go from the cruise terminal to our hotel in Venice (it has it's own private dock for a water taxi and 2) I'd like to store all but one bag of our cruise luggage so that we are not lugging everything over to our hotel. Can anyone help me with what transportation we should take, and where we can safely store our luggage so that we can be assured of being able to pick it up on our way to the airport the day we leave? Thanks so very much!

Here's a link:europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/venice-cruise-terminal.htm with information about baggage storage.

The inexpensive way to get to your hotel is to walk to the Piazzale Roma nearby and catch a water bus from there. There are also shuttles. Water taxis in Venice are extremely expensive.

First, you have a 15 minute walk from the ship to the Piazzale Roma. There may be a bus, shuttle or even a taxi to take you to the Plaza.

Second, please carefully know the difference between the water bus and the water taxi. The water bus is the public vaporetto that has regularly scheduled runs on the canals. They are very inexpensive. You can buy tickets at the Piazalle Roma. The water taxi is a private boat that will cost you a minimum of 125Euro for up to 6-7 people plus luggage. The water bus is recommended.

Third, you can store your luggage at the staffed luggage storage area at the Venice train station. I'm just not sure if you can store it for the extra two days. It is quite safe. The train station is the Ferrovia vaporetto stop which is one stop away from the Piazzale Roma.
