Transportation to Fusina port and lodging near that departure location (in Venice)

We leave on an Adriatic cruise leaving on 10/20/25. The cruise leaves from the Fusina port in Venice. We are staying the 2 nights prior to cruise in Venice. Looking for info on transportation to the Fusina port from Venice and then a hotel in Venice close to that location where we catch the transportation to Fusina.

It's possible to take a land taxi from Piazzale Roma to the Fusina terminal. Look for a hotel within walking distance of P. Roma.
Google maps will also show the public transportation modes- ferry from the Zattere Gesuati dock in Venice, or buses (with changes) from Piazzale Roma.

You can also take a ferry from Venice to the cruise port. It leaves from the Zattere Gesuati stop in Venice and I THINK it goes directly to the cruise terminal, but I might be wrong. Try several google searches and see if you think that would work for you.

As TC says, you can take a ferry from the Zattere, ferry line 16. It is a 25 minute trip across the lagoon.
Get the app Chebateo for planning vaporetto (water bus) trips in Venice.

Too bad that app doesn't recognize Fusina as a stop, nor does it show a line 16 !

Did the OP ever make the trip?

Other cruise lines are offering this page as solid advice for getting to the port. Very frustrating that the only answer here is "I think so".

the original post says that the "cruise [is] leaving on 10/20/25". That is October, 4 months away, and a week.

go to the official Fusina Terminal website (inked from the ACTV website as other operators) https://www.terminalfusina.it/en/navigation/lines#line-fusina-venezia and scroll down to the blue coloured Linea 16.

Note that it goes to the Terminal where the huge car park is - I don't know how far that is to the cruise ships, and also note that all ACTV tickets are NOT valid on the 16. Not single tickets, not multiday tickets, not Venezia Unica passes. Seperate tickets only, 10€.

it is not an ACTV service. Only ACTV services are on the CheBateo? app.

From what I've been able to find out the #16 ferry terminal in Fusina is a long walk from the cruise terminal through an industrial area that doesn't sound very walkable. Here's how a traveler on another forum described it (although in reverse): "We walked from the ship to the public vaporetto no.16 at the village of Fusina. It was a 3.6km flat walk, from leaving the ship through the terminal gate, then on a footpath past a long line of trucks waiting to board a ferry, a sharp, say 150’ left turn to walk along a rural road bordered by swamps and a few boat repair workshops. There was a footpath behind a guard rail but the grass was long and surface rough so we walked on the edge of the road. The 31 minutes shown on the google map below is optimistic. It does not allow for the walk from the ship to the terminal gate and the destination is short of the Fusina vaporetto dock. If there were a direct path along the waterfront, it would be a less than 1 kilometre from the ship to the vaporetto wharf but this is all private property. Frustrating!"

There's also a map of the walk and the following note on a Facebook Venice travel page: "I don’t think you can take a water taxi directly to the port. From what I understand, you have to be dropped at the nearest vaporetto stop (Fusina) and walk, which is about a mile and a half from the cruise terminal. It looks like a quick walk on the map, but the most direct path cuts through private property, so it’s not actually accessible. From what I’ve found, your best bet is either a land taxi or a bus from Piazzale Roma."

Looking at google maps shows that the above post by @pzykofsky seems to be correct in that it is a very long walk from the route 16 ferry stop.
Google maps also shows that there is little or no public transportation to the cruise terminal (which is also a ferry terminal), and then only at workers shift times.

The Viking website shows that the ship arrives the previous day at Chioggia, then relocates to Fusina for it's next cruise.

You need to contact Viking but all the information is that you check in at the old Venice cruise terminal and are then transferred to the ship by charter bus. Your only other realistic option seems to be a land taxi- probably from Venice Mestre railway station.

Similar to the original post of Feb 26, we leave the Fusina cruise port on October 18 2025, with Explora Journeys. We will have been in Venice for a few days before the cruise departs. ExJ will arrange private water transport from Venice to the Fusina cruise port, but it is very expensive. So... I have been searching (and searching!) for a less expensive way to get to the port.

It is easy to take Line 16 from Zattere to the Fusina public dock. The issue is how to get from there to the Fusina cruise port. My husband and I can walk and won't have much luggage, but I am concerned about the route after looking at Google maps street view.

Does anyone know if there are land taxis for hire at the Fusina vaporetto stop?
Has anyone walked from the vaporetto stop to the actual cruise port?
