Transportation throughout rome courtyard marriott central park

I am traveling to rome in july 2020 and staying at the courtyard marriott rome central park.

The hotel offers a shuttle to St Peters.

How far and what are my best options for transportation to main tourist areas ?

Is uber available in Rome ?

Only Uber Black is available in Rome.

Taxi is going to be your best option from your lodging.

From Marriott Central Park to the Colosseum
Is a 15 minute ride cost around $20.

You must either call for a taxi or go to a taxi stand. Calling will entail additional fees.

I’m guessing you’re using Marriott points for this stay? I would alwAys choose to stay city center of Rome instead of the outskirts and having to rely on a hotel shuttle. Being able to easily pop back to your room at anytime is priceless.

I stayed there several years ago and thought it was a terrible hotel, a real pain to get to and from and the rooms were horrid although I'm glad to see they've got rid of the lurid colour schemes.

If you are staying on points are you able to use more to stay somewhere more central?

I don't know that hotel at all (I stay in much more basic places), but I want to point out that a non-central hotel in Rome in the summer carries with it the additional disadvantage that you won't so easily/cheaply be able to pop back there to cool off in you air conditioned room during the hottest part of the day.

Another option is to take the regional RER train from Gemelli station near the hotel to the Roma S. Pietro station. From there you can catch a taxi or take bus 64 into the historical neighborhood. I have taken this 64 bus route several times with no difficulty.

It looks like You could also take the FL3 urban train from the Gemelli stop near the hotel to the Valle Aurelia station, which is close to the Metro Line A stop of the same name. Take the A metro to stops near places of interest. - such as Spagna, which is near the Spanish Steps - and walk from there, or onwards to Termini and walk to nearby attractions from there. Note that the Barberini station is currently closed so no stops at that one.

You can also switch to Metro line B at Termini, take that down to the Colosseum area and walk from there. Last I knew you could switch lines at Termini on a single BIT ticket as long as you don't go outside the turnstiles: follow the signs from the A line to the B inside the station. You could also buy a 24-hour, 48 hour or 72 hour pass that will allow you to move from transport to transport with just the first validation. This will work on the FL3 urban train as well as the stop near your hotel is within the Rome limits. As your hotel is quite a ways out, you'd probably make good use of a pass.

Hope this map comes up for you:

Stations marked in RED are the last stations on any line heading out of Rome that BIT tickets or general passes work for without extra cost. Note that Fiumicino airport is outside of this area so you can't use a general pass or BIT ticket for that one. Hope this makes sense!

BIT - INTEGRATED TIME TICKET (€ 1,50)
CIS - INTEGRATED WEEKLY TICKET (€ 24,00)
ROMA 24H HOUR TICKET (€ 7,00)
ROMA 48H HOUR TICKET (€ 12,50)
ROMA 72H HOUR TICKET (€ 18,00)
