Transportation suggestions needed

My Sister & I are taking a cruise, starting in Barcelona & ending at the port near Rome. Our plan is to spend 3 days in Rome then travel to Florence for a few days. The challenge will be luggage! traveling from Rome to Florence. Even in packing smart, handling the luggage will be an issue for us. What type of transportation does anyone recommend for Senior Gals that are unable to handle/lift their own luggage. Thank you in advance 😊

I personally like train over buses, but I have my own valet. ;) With a bus, you do not have to carry your luggage up into the passenger area because it goes below at street level. Also, likely, there may be someone also loading luggage into the underbelly of the bus that might lift and put yours in, as well. The Florence train and bus stations are right next to each other. We didn't travel by bus between Florence and Rome, but we did go by FLIX bus from Sienna to Rome. It was very comfortable.

How do you intend to wrangle luggage from the port into Rome? Does the cruise provide a transfer?

How are you dealing with the luggage during the trip to Barcelona?

Are you willing to rely on the kindness of strangers at various points?

Markcw. The OP has most likely arranged to either take the cruise transfer into Rome, or used one of the private car companies. As for Barcelona, taxis are easy from the airport and to the port. None of these are the distance from Rome to Florence. Since the ladies are unable to wrangle their luggage on and off trains, the previous suggestions of bus or car service (depending on budget) should meet their needs.
