Double check your search, as I am seeing many buses running from Siena to Rome every Sunday in July 2023.

Oof. Maybe I’m conflating with Lucca to Siena.
Also check Itabus, the same route and time. The Rome station Is Roma Tibertina.
Thank you. I was mixing up my travel dates. It’s Lucca to Siena that is presenting a problem
You could take the train, change in Florence

Hello jodycsr,
Taking the train is the most straightforward solution. Many people prefer the bus to the train for getting into Siena from Florence because it drops you more "in town" than the train station that is down the hill. But if you're worried about the connections staying on the train and not leaving the station to find the bus station might appeal to you as the simplest.
There is some more information on the options here: https://www.discovertuscany.com/siena/tourist-info/getting-to-siena-without-a-car.html
You'll have two main train options for making the connection:
One change: Lucca > Florence SM, Florence SM > Siena ~3 hours and costing ~15e
or
Two changes: Lucca > Pisa Centrale, Pisa Centrale > Empoli, Empoli > Siena taking ~2.5 hours and costing ~13e
So one is slightly faster but requires two changes as opposed to only one. There are many trains a day so I would just choose one based on the time it goes and whether the clarity of one less change is important to you. All these details are on the Trenitalia ticket selection process - it will detail how many changes there are on each train and they you can click any trip details. There is no reason to buy these tickets ahead of time since they are local regionale trains.
I recommend getting the Trenitalia app for your phone that will allow you to check schedules, buy tickets and track trains in real time. Using the train is straightforward and many people use it everyday and it will become routine once you've done it a couple of times so just look at it as part of the adventure.
Have a great trip,
