Transportation Rome to Sorrento

We are a family of 5 needing to leave Rome Aug. 15 for our destination of apartment in Sorrento. Can someone help with the bus option? I researched a private driver and it is very expensive. If the bus, which company is better? I have taken the train in the past and wasn't a fan of transferring in Naples then walking from the Sorrento station to our hotel. One of our members is special needs and it can be difficult for her. A more direct option is best.

Thank you

Lorie, we haven't taken a bus to Sorrento but you might look at Marozzi:

https://www.marozzivt.it/prenotazioni?tipologia=emissione&from=ROMA&to=Sorrento&date_from=15-08-2018&date_to=

Or Flixbus:

https://shop.flixbus.com/search?departureCity=2075&arrivalCity=13128&route=Rome-Sorrento&rideDate=15.08.2018&adult=1&_locale=en_US&wt_eid=2153252724242565254&wt_t=1532528033718&affiliate=%28not+set%29%2C&_ga=2.144765364.1893145909.1532527243-2022076421.1532527243

Neither are going to get you directly to your hotel, though. You'll need to grab a cab at the station if you can't walk from there. I don't know as one would be preferable to another.

Editing to add: a dummy booking on the Marozzi site is telling me there's no result for the Aug 15th date selected. Not sure if it's a glitch or what.

Have you used Marozzi ? Walking won't be a problem and we realize we may have to get a cab or walk some. Thank you.

Why don't take an high speed train to Napoli Centrale and meet there a private driver? Zero walking and twice faster.

Buses are cheap, but who would ever waste 3+ of vacation time on a bus? During the most important italian holiday after xmas? No way, and I bet there are discounted fares left both on trenitalia.com and italotreno.it/en.

No, as I said in my post, I haven't used the buses but know of them.

Walking won't be a problem.

Ah, thought you said that you weren't a fan of "walking from the Sorrento station to our hotel."

As Dario recommended, did you price a driver from Naples instead of Rome? A driver would get you directly to your hotel from Napoli Centrale. It won't be inexpensive but might be the best choice in your situation.

Dario has the best solution. This is what we did a year ago last March to a Sorrento B&B & it is highly recommended. Roma Termini to Napoli Centrale is 70 minutes by Freccia train. Contact your apartment landlord to see if they have a line on a van (you're got 5 people & luggage) to meet you as you get off the train in Naples, and take you directly to the apartment in Sorrento. It will cost you upwards of 100 Euro but believe me it will be well worth it!

Enjoy your planning!
