Transportation options from Cinque Terre to Venice

Hello,
I'm looking for options/advice for traveling from Cinque Terre (or Genoa) to Venice.
I'm open to renting a car but wonder if bus or train is advisable. Instead of going up to Milan, I'd like to visit Parma, Bologna, Verona, and such. So, I'm wondering if driving is the way to go or are there trains or buses that will get us to this other cities on the way to Venice.
Thanks!

The train is the best way. None of the location you want to visit are car friendly. Lots of parking hassles. The trains will drop you in the middle of where you need to be, and you don't have to worry about driving, finding parking, or getting lost in city traffic..

The stations along your itinerary would be (in this order):
Cinque Terre (name of village you depart from)
La Spezia Centrale (this is where your train from the Cinque Terre will drop you and where you catch the train to Parma)
Parma
Bologna Centrale
Verona Porta Nuova
Venezia Santa Lucia
