Transportation options for December '22 trip to Florence & Venice

I'm looking for advice on the best transportation options for our upcoming trip to Florence and Venice. We're coming from Paris and will be staying three nights in each city.

What's the best transportation strategy for a trip like this? Paris to Milan by plane, then trains everywhere else and back to Milan by train at the end for the flight back to Paris? Or are the logistics of getting from Malpensa to Milano Centrale annoying enough that flying direct from Paris to Florence and then Venice to Paris makes more sense? Assuming the train between Florence and Venice is a no-brainer under any scenario.

Thanks so much!

Cheers,
Charlie

There is a 50 minutes train from MXP to Milano Centrale. The bus from Linate airport to Milano Centrale takes less than 30 minutes, depending on time and traffic.

Obviously the Airport trains stop inside the station's only tracks area, whereas buses and cabs stop outside the building.

You can see the railway schedules up to December 11 on trenitalia.com and itaotreno.it; from "Firenze S.M. Novella" or "Firenze Campo di Marte" to "Venezia Mestre" or "Venezia S. Lucia", depending on where you are staying. Brain or not, anyone who's able to take a transatlantic flight can take a direct train from A to B.

On the face of it flying from Paris to Venice/Florence; train between Florence-Venice and fly back to Paris from wherever the last stop is, seems the better plan.

Do not understand why one would fly to Milan if the intended destinations are Venice and Florence.
