Transportation: Livorno to Pisa

We have a cruise port in Livorno and plan to focus on Pisa that day. All of the tours I've found include a short stop at Pisa with a bigger focus on Florence or Lucca. Both sound lovely, but we really want to spend the day really enjoying Pisa without feeling rushed. I'm looking for a transportation option from the port of Livorno to Pisa.

I know we could just do a taxi, but we're traveling with my parents (early 80s) who aren't comfortable with locating a taxi for the ride back to the port.

Can anyone recommend a company that will basically just handle transfers to/from Pisa? We would like some time to just meander through the city, have lunch, etc.

Thanks!

Hello shburks,

If you really want a tour this company has shore excursions specifically designed for people coming from cruise ships:
https://en.turislucca.com/guided-tours-for-individuals/ (check shore excursions on the side)
and they offer several different Pisa options - classic, by bike, etc.

We used them for a walking tour of Lucca and really enjoyed it. If you don't need help with transportation you can take the train and then just take one of their multiple 2 or 4 hour Pisa tours or tours offered by someone else locally.

I don't know what kind of options the cruise company might be providing or helping you out with but the port looks like about a 10 minute drive to the train station. I'd be shocked if there weren't a bunch of transport options waiting for you there, but maybe you'd rather have someone else arrange transportation.

Either way have a great visit to Pisa,

bus takes about 45 minutes, pretty easy. You could even stop at the Marina and walk around, it was very nice.
