What is the best mode of transportation from Florence train station to Florence airport for 6 or more adults?

Definitely taxi. Some are minivan large enough for 6.
There is also a shuttle bus by ATAF (Florence bus agency) called Volainbus (fly by bus), but for six people with luggage is probably not a great option. If it's not rush hour, the taxi ride is less than 15-20 minutes (at most 25 euros depending on the pieces of luggage you have).
