We would like some suggestions on a reasonably priced method of transportation to get from the Napoli Centrali station to our hotel in Praiano..I've contacted some private drivers, but they are SO expensive! Any other more reasonably priced ideas out there? thx!

Pat, we may have to further define "reasonably" in terms of private transportation. There really isn't such a thing from Naples to the Amalfi cost. Fares on private transportation can run 100E-200+Euro based on who you choose, total passengers, luggage, etc. You can check with your hotel to see if they have special arrangements with limo firms to bring you from the Naples airport or train station. Many do. Alternatively, the least expensive way to get there is on public transportation. At Napoli Centrale, go downstairs and take the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento. 1:10 travel time. Fare is 4E-5Euro. Then, take the SITA bus to Priano. 1:15 travel time. Not sure of the fare but its not very much.

Unfortunately, for that route there is only: a) convenient and very expensive, or b) cheap and basic; there's not anything in between. Larry has given details of the cheap method (about €10 per person). It's not hard, but it does require hauling your luggage and changing from the Circumvesuviana to the bus.
