We are four adults arriving at the Venice Mestre train station and need land transportation to the Venice Cruise Port. I found a website called Airport Transfer Direct. Does anyone know anything about this company? Does anyone have a recommendations.
Why not just use a taxi? That is what we did a few years ago. It was reasonable. However, four adults with typical, too much cruise luggage could overwhelm one taxi so may have to take two.
You also can take the train another 11 minutes to Venezia Santa Lucia and walk to the people mover out to the ships at the Piazzale Roma. Should be about 2Euro for the train ride. You will have to cross the new bridge over the Grand Canal. This is a bit tough with heavy luggage as the bridge walkway is not smooth for roller bags. It's bumpty-bump up and bumpty-bump down.
We purposely chose the Mestre station to take land transportation. We have large luggage for cruise and didn't want to deal with lugging luggage. I was wondering if anyone had used a transport service from that station. We would like to travel together.
I should have added to my original postings is that we had contacted the cruise company and their recommendation was to stop in Mestre and take a taxi. It was fairly reasonable and there were a bunch of taxi available because others were doing the same thing. You are not coming from the airport so will Airport transfer pick you up at the train station?
Yes, the airport transfer company website had the train station as a pick up location with cruise port as drop off. The quote I got was 50€ for four using a van. I just don't know anything about the company and was hoping someone had used them.
That is probably reasonable. Ever considered, slightly, the possibility of reducing the luggage load just to make things a little easier all the way around.
