My wife and I will be visiting Venice in May and would appreciate some suggestions on the best way to get from the airport to our hotel near Piazza San Marco. (Hotel Paganelli near San Zaccaria Vaporetto docks) Is the vaporetto a viable option? We're not excited about the Alilaguna boats since after a long flight from the U.S., another hour and a half boat ride to our hotel might not be enjoyable. We are leaning towards the water taxi. How difficult do you think it would be to find some fellow travelers who might split the cost? Thank you.
This topic comes up a lot
If you do a search you will find lots of advice and info
I believe you can get a shared water taxi at the airport
If you book your own it’s probably about 120 euros

There are no Vaporettos from the airport
You would have to bus or land taxi to Piazalle Roma to catch one
Here is a link for the shared water taxi from Marco Polo airport to downtown Venice.
We have used it. As it has passengers to be dropped off at various places, you will maybe get a little tour of Venice.

hey hey sportsdome
totally agree with ChristineH & Aussie with either private water taxi. we have done it 4 times and best way to get into venice down the grand canal. worth every penny/euro for us.
you can do a dummy reservation and see price, or the venicelink is about 35E per person, needs 2, there you go and speed away.
hang loose & aloha
The hotel's website has some info
Thank you!
