transportation from the Marco Polo Airport to Venice

I see that there a few different modes of transportation from the airport to Venice. Our airbnb's address is:
Residence dei 2 Artist, 1170. 30. 135, Venezia.
Our plane lands at 6:20 pm on Aug. 31. We are a group of 13 (11 adults and 2 young children) - however,
we can divide our group.
What mode of transportation do you advise to get to our aibnb?

If it's near the Santa Lucia Station then I think booking ground transportation would be the quickest way to get you to the parking lot near the station. From there you may want to walk if it's close to the station. It's hard to tell the rest of the route because nothing comes up when I plug that address into Google Maps.

I think the most fun way to get into Venice from the airport is by vaporetto (water bus) rather than taking a train and then walking to your hotel. It's a very different experience than one would typically do for most cities.

Like the poster above, I could not find the place when I plugged in the address in Google, but when I did a general Google search, I found the listing which I believe said it's about 10 minutes from the train station.

To clarify Muriel's comment- the public water transport to/from the airport is Alilaguna—vaporetti are just around the more like 'local' busses around the city.

But for that many people, I'd look into a private water taxi. It would certainly be the most fun and special, and probably be cost efficient. Many have a max capacity of 10, so definitely look into it and book ahead for a larger boat.

that's a wacky address. Should be a calle or campo, with a number within a sestiere, then the Sestiere, then Venezia.

1170, 30, 135 makes no sense to me ....

Google isn't a complete help. There is one place claims to be near Rialto Mercato, another claims to be near the station.

There is one with a real address which is Santa Croce, 1170, 30135 Venezia

That looks like your address but with the missing bits put in. So it is number 1170 in the sestiere of Santa Croce. It is well away from the Grand Canal, or any canal, off Lista Vecchia dei Bari on the opposite side of the Grand Canal from the train station, nearest vaporetto Riva de Baisio, served by the number 1, the N night boats, and the 5.1 and 5.2.

It is about 3 bridges (couple of route choices) from P.Le Roma where the land based taxis and buses come, on that side of the Grand Canal.

Even if you take a water taxi from the airport you will all be hiking inland from the vaporetto dock or from the Ponte de la Bergama which is about the same walking distance, down the Rio Marin, but the vaporetto dock will probably be easier with a lot of people and a lot of people's luggage, as long as you don't delay the vaporetto.

Is that the right one, or are you expecting to be at the other place?

The address as written by the OP makes no sense at all, but I believe Nigel has sorted it out. Addresses in Venice are usually written as the same of the sestriere, followed by a 3 or 4-digit number. The address of one apartment we had, for example, was Castello 5587.

Sometimes the address is written as the name of a bridge or campo, or the 4-digit number, followed by the postal code for the location. Such as an address near our most recent apartment in Dorsoduro, listed as Ponte San Vio 30123.

In this case the 30135 identifies Santa Croce.

That location is indeed across the Grand Canal from the train station. Which is fine, as you will not be taking a train from the airport to Venice anyway. If you take the regular airport bus to Piazzale Roma, you can walk from there. But a beer option with luggage would be to take the vaporetto from Piazzale Roma to the nearest vaporetto stop (Riva de Biasio) as Nigel suggested.

"30135, Venezia" is like "Beverly Hills, 90210" or "SW1, Belgravia": it's the ZIP code. Nigel could run as the next Doge.

PS Is a "beer option" the best option only when somebody's else is driving?

Seems the best source of info would be the landlord

That is a nice apartment and good location. I looked at booking it for our upcoming trip but we had to shorten the stay to one night, so booked a hotel instead.

Do we get to vote for Doge? My vote will certainly go to Nigel!

Doge, eh? My memory is that it was a bit of a double edged sword.....

Yes, it is. I messaged the Airbnb asking what they recommend.

Always a good idea.
