We will be staying at a convent close to Termini. My daughter has to go to the airport for a 0615 flight. Any suggestions on scheduling a taxi for 4 am pickup? Could that be done in advance at the train or bus station?

The train doesn't run that early. Do a search. Someone posted something about an early bus. A cab would be the only other options. Our sons faced the same problem last summer. We had a late night/dinner in Rome then they caught one of the last trains around 1AM and spent the night in the airport. They reported that they had lots of company and slept well on the plane to Chicago.

thought about the last train but didn't know if you could hang around the airport for that amount of time, security being the way it is; but maybe European airports are different than U.S. airports. Also thought about trying to arrange a taxi thru the convent. I know that they lock their doors at 11:00 and I have no idea if they would schedule a taxi for that time in the morning and unlock the doors to let someone out. All i can do is ask.

I just flew in from Rome yesterday and had the same problem. I booked a private car through www.romeshuttlelimousine.com and it was great--40 euros (usually 35 but 5 more b/c of the early hour) and they are on time, safe, and the car was immaculate.

We also had a very early flight from Rome. When we checked into the hotel, Pantheon area, we asked about a taxi to airport. They arranged it, and told us the price when we came downstairs after unpacking. we confirmed it with them day before. He was waiting for us when we came down. Just make sure price is given to you upfront whether using a limo/car service or taxi arranged through the hotel.
