Transportation from Santa Lucia Train Station to Hotel in Venice.

We are staying at Hotel Moresco and wonder what options we have going from Santa Lucia train station. We are 3 seniors and not adverse to walking but we’ll have been on a train for 5 hours. Thanks

Hi, the walking time from the train station shows 11 minutes. But, usually for Venice, that can be longer because of wrong turns walking. The big question is how large is your luggage? Are you able to carry it over some large bridges, especially the one over the Grand Canal, or does this need to be a water taxi ride?

I know the general idea of where your hotel is located; I was walking by there in August while I was out exploring the islands. To get to the main sites the next day, take the vaporetto (water bus) from the P. Roma vaporetto stop which is the bus station boat stop. You will walk right by it, coming from the train station.

The rome2rio.com website can give you a visual of what you will be doing.

It's a little less than 1/2 mile walk (about 10 min) along the canals, all flat terrain, except for a few low steps on this bridge, and a few more on this bridge, and finally a few more on this wooden bridge Only you can decide if you can make it, also considering the luggage you are carrying with you. The fact you were previously sitting on a train for 5 hours, would probably mean that you'll be fully rested.

If you have substantial amounts of luggage, you can hire this company (present at the station), to take it to the hotel for you. They can also arrange a water taxi, but it's a short distance and I'm sure you can handle it on foot without luggage.

You can contact your hotel for the best options. There are porters at the train station that will help you as well.

Many thanks for all your suggestions! We’re planning to walk and have our luggage delivered to hotel.
