We will be traveling in Italy in Sept and our last town to visit is San Marco in Lamis. We will be flying out of Rome back to the US, and need to find transportation to the Rome airport. Any suggestions, beside drive. Has anyone hired private drivers?

Go to Foggia, the provincial capital in that area. From there you have both buses and trains options to Rome. I recommend to go to Rome the day before your flight back. Spend the night in Rome, then in the morning take the 30 min taxi drive to the airport. If you drive from San Marco to Rome it's at least 4 hours (about 400km or 250 miles) and a private driver for that distance will charge you hundreds of euros.
