Transportation from Rome Fiumicini Airport to San Lorenzo neighborhood

My wife and and I will be first timers in Rome. Other than train or bus, are there any shuttle services that any one has used and liked? Thanks in advance

FYI, taxis are regulated at 48-50 Euro depending on which neighborhood.

Any address within the Aurelian walls carries a flat taxi fare of 48€.
See the orange area on the map

Tell us the exact address and we can tell you if the flat fare applies, however that is more or less what it costs. Taxi is the best option, unless you are staying walking distance from the station, and even then, if there are 3 or more in the party, the taxi is still best.

San Lorenzo Fiori Le Mura Church is just outside the wall, but it is very near the Tiburtina station. If you can take the train from FCO to Roma Tiburtina, you may be able to walk to your hotel. Let us know the address.

Thand for all the feedback. The actual address is Via dei Mardi XX, and it is just outside the wall. There is a hotel nearby, so the airport shuttle may be an option

There is no Via dei Mardi XX in Rome. You must have meant Via dei Marsi. Have you taken a look around that neighborhood using Google Maps Streetview? It would not be my first choice for a first time visit to Rome. It's perfectly safe, but not conveniently located and it's way too "gritty" for a lot of tourists' taste. Here's a 360 degree view of the front door of that hotel, if you use your cursor to look around: https://goo.gl/maps/EF6LLNDe49m

Don't disregard the possibility of a private care service. After a long flight, some jet lag, not being familiar with the area, there is nothing better than having your private driver meet you inside the terminal and whisk you to your hotel. No fending off the "freelance" cabbies, waiting in the regular taxi line, or just having a "lost" feeling. It is not the cheapest way, but it is definitely the best. We can not say enough good things about Rome Cabs. It is a private car service (not a cab company) but should only cost about 10 Euro more than a regular taxi. We always use them and have always been very pleased. Go to romecabs.com and see what you think. We usually send an email and they answer us with a quote within 24 hours. You do have to pay cash (Euros) and the end of the journey but not in advance.

The XX was a substitute for the number. It's an apartment rental, not a hotel. Yes, the gritty was noted. I will check on the private cab, sounds like the convenience might be worth it.

The XX confused me too, as there are many streets in Rome named after specific dates. For example there is via Novembre XX, via Novembre X, via Settembre XX, all named with Roman numerals for the date, 20, 10, 20 respectively.

I hope you enjoy the neighborhood you have selected. There are some good bits around Tiburtina but there are also other bits.

Do come back here after your trip and let us know how things worked out for you there.

We are still in Rome, but ended up taking the Leonardo Express to Termini and then just walking (about 20 minutes) to our apartment. The owner met us there after I contacted him via Whatsapp in about 5 minutes. It was dark and a little disconcerting for a first timer, but overall pretty easy. We had flown EasyJet from Milan Malpensa after a few days outside of Milan at Antica Corte in Novate Milanese, and that was uneventful as well.
