What is the best way to travel from the airport to the train station in Rome?
Steve,
The Leonardo Express is a train that runs directly from the airport to Termini Station in Rome. It departs every half hour and is only a half hour ride. Provided you don't have a lot of luggage, I think this might be the easiest option. It's 11 euro which makes it pretty economical, too.
The cab ride is a fixed 40E to city core.
I agree with the train..our first trip we did it with TOO much luggage and still managed.
If you are flying in/out of Rome, check out http://www.airportshuttle.it/ - they have the best rates for door to door airport shuttle service and is often times cheaper than the cost of cab + train and less of a hassle if you have luggage (which of course you will!). The cost for 2 is not much more than 2 train tickets ($15eu vs. $11eu) and is door to door service. You can book online or just call them a day or two ahead of time. I’ve also been told Rome Cabs works well – www.romecabs.com, slightly more expensive but another similar option. If you do take a cab to/from Rome center to FCO airport, negotiate the price upfront. An “official” cab should be about $40 euro each way and no more.
Steve,
The Leonardo Express is by far the easiest option. The trip is about 30 minutes and is not affected by traffic. You can buy tickets at the airport (€11 per person), but DON'T forget to validate!
That's the method I usually use, and will be using again this May.
Happy travels!
i am not adding anything new other than agreeing and saying the leonardo express is the easiest and least expensive...from the airport direct to the termini in rome...no hassle
