Transportation from Paestum train station to Tenuta Vannulo

Four of us will be staying in Sorrento for 7 days in late September. We will then stay in Naples for 3 nights. We would like to visit Tenuta Vannulo and think the easiest way to get there without a car is a train from Naples to Paestum. Are taxis readily available at the Paestum station? Do we need to book in advance? What about the return trip to the station or a stop at the temple? Contacts for a taxi?

I know this is a lot of questions. I’m hoping to plan a smooth day out.

We took the train from Naples to visit Paestum in 2019. I don't recall any taxis at the station. It is a small, rural station. I don't remember if there was a sign with a number to call for a taxi. You could make the ~10 minute walk into the town where there would maybe be access to a taxi. One thing I did before our trip was to use street view in Google maps to view the walk to the town from the train station. Maybe try that so you can see how rural it is and see if you can spot any taxi signs around the train station.

As of May 2023 the Google Street View shows a Taxi stand sign directly across from the Paestum station and it does have what look like a phone number for service signs attached to that sign. But there certainly doesn't look like there's a line of taxis waiting there to pick people up. That makes sense since it would be mostly people doing the quick ride to the sight and that's probably not worth their time to do that run every hour.

If you take a taxi out there be sure you get the card and number of whoever takes you out there so you can call them to get back.

Have a great visit,

I visited Tenuta Vannulo on the way to Paestum. I had a rental car and was staying in Salerno. Plan to go to the dairy first if you want some mozzarella, especially on the weekend, as they sell out. I had the best cannolo ever and their gelato is also excellent. It's not far from the dairy to Paestum but I think you'll need to arrange a round trip with the taxi driver. Then have the driver take you to the archaeology park, which is about a km from the train station. There are magnificent ruins of 3 temples and a good archaeology museum, though not nearly as good as the national museum in Naples.

I spent 3 days in Paestum last October and while there went to Tenuta Vannulo. You can call Leonardo for taxi service in Paestum: +39 339 3201101 but it would be best to arrange a trip to and from the farm in advance. Also, the restaurant at Tenuta Vannulo is wonderful. If you have never seen them, it would be a shame to miss the Greek temples in Paestum. Magnificent.
