Does anyone know if there is a possibility to move from Orvieto to Siena by taxi (private driver)? I need to be in Siena by 8:30 am and the train is not an option since the first train departs from Orvieto until mid-morning. I do not mind sharing the ride with someone but I just need to be in Siena early to catch a tour. Does anyone know? I have read everywhere that public transportation is not reliable... I'm traveling alone.

It won’t be cheap
Probably close to 200 euros as it’s about 90 min
Might be better off going to Siena night before even if you have to double book lodging
( and Siena is lovely at night)

Did you pick an early hour of departure on TrenItalia.com? I see the Regionale #18724 that departs to Chiusi at 05:53. There you can transfer into RV #19070 and arrive in Siena at 7:56. Note that the railway station is on the bottom of the hill, check where is your final destination in Siena. The public escalators to the city center are not very fast.
Railway companies take around 6 million passengers every day in Italy, you could give 'em a chance. If not, You could ask your hotel the email of reputable private driver that will take you to Siena for a fixed fare. A metered cab would cost you an arm and a leg.
