Transportation from Orbetello Monte Argentario to Porto Ercole

Spending time planning our next trip to Italy (hopefully next September) and just trying to see what is the best way from the Orbetello Monte Argentario train station to Porto Ercole. Looks like you can take a bus or a cab but I know that cabs can be scarce at times. Is there a site for the bus transportation service? Once I reserve our Airbnb I can probably get assistance from the Host but just looking in advance.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Unless you plan on just sticking to the Porto Ercole area (that's not a terrible option--gorgeous scenery and rocky beaches), I'd recommend a car. On the promontory it's windy and slow, but mainland driving is a breeze.
I think this is the bus company: https://www.tiemmespa.it/
I searched RometoRio, but Google Maps will sometimes provide accurate transit info.
While there are probably taxis at Orbetello train station, I'd try to plan something in advance with your host so you don't have to wait or call one.
I love love love this area--lucky you!

Thank you so much for your assistance. Well, we'll see right? Hopefully the country can get itself together by the late Fall and maybe by the beginning of the new year things will be better here. Until then, we have our memories and will be hopeful for the future. I just dread renting a car. We rented a car the last time & drove from Salerno to Milan and it was OK on the highway but driving through Salerno frightened me so. We only plan on being in the Monte Argentario area for 4 nights and I would like to go and see Giglio since we will be there. I was hoping a bus and ferry would be satisfactory. Thanks again!

This region has very easy driving, I can think of no cities approaching the size of Salerno. With a car, you can easily get to interesting small places like Pitigliano, Sovano/Sorano where there are Etruscan ruins, Maremma/Ucellina park, the hot springs of Saturnia, etc.
Bus/walking (some strenuous) will be fine for exploring the promontory and Orbetello area, plus ferry for the islands. There are very nice sandy beaches at Feniglia, and you can rent bicycles there. The promontory is very rocky and in early September will be very hot, so take that into consideration.
If you mostly plan to enjoy nature, without a car will be fine, but perhaps you can hire a driver on a day or two if you wish to explore further. I hope to return to this gorgeous area one day!

I was also thinking that you may email your host. I have found them very helpful arranging for drivers. It gives me a sense of comfort, because usually it is a person known to the host and very familiar with the area. And there is somewhat of a connection rather than just picking a random person unknown to me.

Yes, I will definitely do that once we make our accommodations. Thank you!
