Transportation from Naples Airport to Sorrento

On Saturday April 30, 2016, my wife and I and another couple will land at the Naples airport from Catania. We have an apartment booked that day in Sorrento (we're coming back to Naples later in the trip). I assume the best (without hiring a private driver) is bus to the train station and then the train to Sorrento. Does anyone know any details about just how to make that trip? I keep googling and can't find a site that will give me schedules of the buses leaving the airport to the train station and then train schedules on the (Circumvesivian?) trains.

thanks!

From the airport the best option is probably the Curreri Viaggi Bus Shuttle directly to Sorrento for €10.
See if it works out for your needs. Timetable below.

Otherwise, if Curreri doesn't work for you, I'd say taxi or bus to Napoli Centrale, then Circumvesuviana commuter train. Circumvesuviana Train schedule below:

To get to the station take the Alibus from the airport

There are frequent buses from the airport to the train station. Once in the station follow the signs for the Circumvesuviana line to Sorrento (the last stop on a very long trip on a very graffiti-ed train). The trains, as I remember, are about every 30 minutes. Have you considered taking the boat? It's a beautiful ride and much safer (pickpockets) than the train. Taxis in Naples are fast and efficient too. With 4 people it shouldn't be a budget buster either.

Enjoy Sorrento - it's one of my favorite places in Italy. Along with every other place in Italy!

If you can avoid Circumvesuviana train. Especially with the luggage. It's crowded, hot and paradise for pickpockets. Either the direct bus from the airport to Sorrento as Roberto says or taxi to the harbor and boat as Robert says. I like the boat. The air is refreshingly cool, you can be outside and nobody can disappear with your luggage.
