Transportation from Marco Polo Airport in Venice to water taxis.

Scheduled to arrive at Marco Polo airport at 9:05 am.
What are the best options to get to water taxi area.
Also, will be catching train on way out to Naples? Any suggestions? Would like high speed train?
Thanks

Water taxi's are very expensive to and from Marco Polo. It's also quite a hike from the terminal. Even vaporetto's are expensive.
We travel by ground taxi or bus out to the island .

Three ways to get from the airport to hotel:

First: Water taxi is the most expensive. If you can join another couple or two it might be worth it. There is a shared water taxi system now but we haven't used it and can't comment.

Second: Alilaguna boat. Takes longer and you may not be able to get a non stop to the area of your hotel.

Third: Least expensive is a combination bus and vaporetto (vap.). Takes longer, but that is what we do. Two bus lines serve the airport. One is ATVO and is NOT affiliated with the vap. system. The other is ACTV and IS affiliated with the vap. system. At the airport you can get a vap. pass for various periods and can have a one or two way bus fare added to it A good site maintained by the ACTV system has current prices and such. Don't remember the url so just Google it.

If you do the third option take the # 5 ACTV bus from the airport to Piazzale Roma. Be sure to validate the vap. pass on the bus. Do not wait until you get on the vap. Also, validate the pass each time you use the vap. Then take the vap. to the stop closest to your hotel. We've done that many times. Easy peasy and cheap to boot.

There is a site called veniceforvisitors.com that has a lot of good info. that you might want to check out .

I need to add that it is a hike from the terminals to the dock area. You can download a map of Marco Polo airport to see where the docks are located. We took an Alilaguna water bus, and it was not a great experience. We stood in line for a good 40 minutes just waiting to board a boat. On the boat we were in the belly of the boat trying to see the sights coming into Venice through filthy windows. I had read about the amazing view as you approach the Grand Canal. We missed it. On the flip side, others have shared water taxis so the expense is more manageable.

We took a shared water taxi. It wasn't very expensive and it was a wonderful way to get into Venice. It dropped us at the vaparetto stop closest to our hotel. Unless you are bogged down with oversized luggage it wasn't difficult to get to the area to get on the boat. I found a deal online and prebooked the transportation.

We arrived at VCE via water taxi May 2019 and as I recall most of the walk from there is on moving sidewalks now

hey hey marina
don’t know how many people you’re with, tell them pack light.
venicelink.com (under shuttle) has shared water taxi like andrea mentioned. There is also motoscafivenezia.it/en for private. Out the airport to left, up escalator will get you to docks where boats are. you can put in a “dummy” booking for cost.
They will take you as close to hotel/apt as possible.
we like to have name and address on hand when asked. Keep it handy. Hope this helps out

As our princess writes, there is now a covered moving footpath from the air terminal to the dock where the water taxis and Alilaguna ferries dock. The footpath has been in service for about four years.

At the dock, joy of joys, there is a kiosk where you can buy a spritz, and so start your Venetian experience even before you arrive.

The Alilaguna is a pretty crappy way to arrive in Venice. We have used it twice only, never again.

I have found the Alilaguna to be good way to go, it is a little slow but it stops right at the Realto Bridge area which is very central.

We took Alilaguna on our first visit to Venice
We did not have to sit down inside
It was really fun, we sat outside in front of the boat
Great way to arrive
Although I realize others have had lousy experiences
