Transportation from Livorno Cruise Port to Florence

I will be arriving the Livorno Cruise port at 7:30am on April 12 and wanted to find out the cost and time to get to Florence. Would I be able to meet a 10:30 tour?

If you intend to go by train, the train takes about 72 to 90 minutes to cover the distance (depending on the train). The cost is 10.80€ per person one way.

Trains depart from Livorno Centrale station, not too far from the port.

In order to make it Florence by 10:00 you will need to take one of the following trains departing at the following times: 7:43, 8:12, 8:49. All others afterwards will get you to Florence after 10:30.

Assuming that you are out of the ship by 7:30, it is nearly impossible to make the first one. Maybe you can make the one at 8:12. I’ve never taken a cruise but I heard that it takes a while for passengers to disembark after the cruise ship docks, so being out of the ship by 7:30 might be wishful thinking, unless the ship docks much earlier.

A car would need at least 1h45m to cover the same distance, traffic permitting. Also not sure where you tour is. Most of downtown Florence is forbidden to cars, so from the place you are dropped off you might need to walk a long distance or take a cab.

If you’re going to Florence by car it probably makes sense to stop at the big car park right off the A1 and take the tram from there. If you’re driving yourself then definitely do that. But for your schedule I think the train would be best. Maybe you can tip the cruise ship folks to put you at the head of the line for disembarking!

Good luck!
