I am flying into Florence and meeting friends who are flying into Pisa (their plane arrives 2 hours after mine). Is it easiest to get from FLR airport to PSA airport or should I plan on meeting them in the town (PISA). Any suggestions on how to do this? Thanks!

Sue, there is a bus that runs between the Amerigo Vespucci airport (Florence) and the Pisa airport. The run includes one stop at the Florence main train station.

Is there a more direct way to go from FLR airport to the Pisa train station without going into the Florence train terminal?

Yep. Private car. But I bet that you don't want to do that. The main Florence train station is about 15 minutes from the airport. The overall journey time for the bus is 1hr.10min. You won't do much better by any other method with the exception of a private car.
