Quick question re transportation from the airport. What shuttle service (cab/taxi) have you used? I know I can take the public transportation, but after a long flight, I would prefer to have a lift.
Thanks.

Taxi from the taxi stand. Flat fee into the historic center of Rome.
Fixed rate 55 euros taxi
Go to the official taxi stand, hand driver your address
Confirm that their card machine is “working “ or pay cash
No tip necessary please
We have simply used a taxi from the official taxi line which is a flat rate when staying inside the city walls or to a few other destinations. See https://www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en/pax-fco-taxi
Note that on the way to the official line you may be asked "need a taxi?" by fake drivers or solicitors. Ignore them. Follow the signs to the official taxi rank and take an official taxi which is white. We like to write down the hotel name and address on a piece of paper before we leave home. Since you'll have looked up the flat rate ahead of time, confirm with the driver before putting your bags in by handing them the piece of paper : "hotel X, flat rate 55 euro?" As pointed out above verify their credit card machine is working.
Sounds good. I googled the cost of a pre- ordered shuttle service and it is at least 20-25 Euros more.
There are two types of taxis at the official taxi stand.
The taxi with the “Comune di Roma” logo on the door charges a flat rate of €55 to any destination within the Aurelian Walls (which covers most of central Rome).
The taxi with the “Comune di Fiumicino” logo charges a flat rate of €65 for the same destination.
Any difference between the two for service?
Also, do they charge extra for one suitcase?
Thanks
No difference other than cost
No charge for bags
I believe fixed rate is 4 people/4 bags
There will be someone managing the line who will put you in correct cab
The predetermined fares are all-inclusive of all supplements except for the supplement from the fifth passenger onwards.

Thanks everyone! Much appreciated!
There are dozens of private transports available, Transfeero is just one example. Yes, you can take a taxi and it is probably a little bit less. But some of us like the added comfort of being personally greeted at the airport, the nicer vehicle, and possibly a more polished driver who speaks English when you book a private transport.
Either method will get you there for somewhere around 50-60 euros, if I recall correctly.
Thanks for the transfer recommendation. A quick search was 103 Euros. I asked my hotel and they quoted me 70 euros (pay the driver).
Check Transferoo, their pricing is good.
