Transportation from FCO airport to Sorrento

I was told that there is a direct train from FCO airport to Naples. Does anyone know where I could find information if there is direct service?

Do you want to get to Sorrento or Naples?

Check Flixbus
https://www.flixbus.com/bus/italy

Oh oops thought you were asking about a bus

Trenitalia
https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html

Station names
Fiumicino Aeroporto
Napoli Centrale

Best to wait til you arrive and purchase tickets then -no way to predict if flight is on time or how long Immigration will take
There are multiple fast trains every hour

You will take the Leonardo Express to Roma Termini then transfer to a fast train

Whoever told you that was wrong. You need to take the Leonardo Express to Rome Termini, and then change trains to one of the high speed trains to Naples. Trenitalia is the train company operating the LE and most of the train routes in Italy. Italo is an independant company offering high speed trains only to certain locations. Do you have a plan to get to Sorrento?

Because the Frecciarossa service from Rome to Naples is so fast (56 minutes or so), it is unlikely that you would be better off with a direct train. Changing trains is not a negative in Europe, it's an accepted part of travel, not frightening at all. I don't think there is a direct train like you want, and if there is, it is likely to be once a week, if that.

Normal travel from FCO to Rome is a dedicated airport shuttle train, which has no reservations and no need to purchase in advance.

BTW, the train to Sorrento, a gritty commuter run operated by a different agency, leaves downstairs, under the main train station in Naples where you will arrive from Roma Termini. It's called the Circumvesuviana. It also has no reservations, and runs two to three trains per hour during the business day.

Be sure to consider your return or departure. It is often impossible to fly home from Rome on a day you wake up in Sorrento or the Amalfi Coast area.

hey hey barb7426
when is this trip you're planning and how many people? give herself tine to get through immigration/passport, get luggage, find taxi, bus or train then decide the best for you.
depending on how you travel, you can expect a LONG day, i would say at least 8 hours or more. if getting to naples what transportation are you using to sorrento? plus can you get late check-in to hotel/apt in sorrento
the commuter train Tim mentions can be really crowded, standing room only, be careful with your luggage. my own opinion, get to naples (napoli train station) with a shared transfer. may need to reach in your pocket a little. posters here mentioned a company that does this. it's your vacation, you do you. have a great time enjoy

I’m traveling in June. I really want to get to Sorrento the easiest way possible.

IMO the easiest way is:

Train to Naples as above
Then hire a private driver to pick you up at station and drive you to Sorrento (about 180 euro)

There are many many threads here discussing transportation in the area with recommendations for drivers

It is smart to first ask your accommodations in Sorrento if they can recommend a driver

Here are a few often mentioned here

We took a bus to Naple from FCO airport. It was a short walk from the bus station to the train station where you can puck up the a Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento.

The easiest option if you really want to minimise changes is the Fiumicino Express bus from FCO to downtown Naples, where you can meet a private driver booked in advance.

Years ago Trenitalia run a direct high speed train from FCO to Naples, but Italians wouldn't dream of taking it and Trenitalia quicky realized a Freccia for non European tourists couldn't break-even.

Another problem is that Rome's main airport is already served by two trains and the FCO rail link is congested. Commuters and students come first, especially when they see that their crowded trains must give way to an almost empty Freccia.

I'll agree that this is likely your easiest although also the most expensive of the options above, and depending on when your plane gets in, you may have a wait for the next bus to Naples; looks like it only makes 5 runs per day.
