Is it possible to travel directly by train or bus from Catania airport to Siracusa? Are the train or bus terminals at the airport or will I first have to travel to Catania city center to the terminals there? Thanks for any suggestions.
No, for the train you need to go to Catania train station. Mostly regional trains every two hours to Siracusa. Don't know about buses.
Yes, there is a bus area and kiosk to buy tickets right outside. Catania Airport has good connections throughout Sicily, including Siracusa. Using the bus is the most efficient way to get there.
Bus schedule - fare is slightly more than 6 EUR

Check the coach kiosk outside the terminal when you arrive and see when the next coach leaves. If not convenient, check with one of the taxis waiting outside the terminal for a fixed rate to Siracusa. It might surprise you as being reasonable and time-saving.
Allie,
I agree with Agnes,
Using the bus is the most efficient way to get there.
I took this bus from Catania airport to Siracusa (when I traveled from Piazza Armerina)
There’s a kiosk right outside the airport. (Turn right when you exit the airport)
Make sure you board the correct bus.
There are several buses that stop at the airport, and many of them are blue just like the Interbus.
Some buses have a sign on the window, indicating their destination, but some don’t. I always ask fellow travelers waiting for the bus if they are also going to my destination.
As a last resort I always ask the bus driver as well.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to stow your own luggage in the bus hold below.
Have a wonderful trip!
Thanks to all for the information. Relieved that it’s so easy to catch the bus from the airport.
