We have a 9am departure to Frankfurt from Malpensa. We are staying in Bellagio.
Do you recommend private taxi (about 160 Euros) for 2 passengers? There is a ferry that leaves at 6 AM but doubt that we can be at Malpensa by 8.

Elizabeth, Given the early departure time, I'd suggest staying in Milan the night before your flight. It's highly unlikely you'd be able to get to Malpensa in time for your flight if using Ferry and train from Varenna. I'd suggest being at the airport perhaps 2 hours prior to your flight, as "unexpected delays" with transportation are not uncommon in Italy. You could certainly use a private Taxi, but that's not an option I'd ever consider due to the cost. Good luck and happy travels!

Hi Elizabeth, I've taken a private taxi from Laglio to Milan Linate, but that was for an 11am departure. Since you have a 9am departure you would need to be at the airport by 7:30, which would mean leaving Bellagio by 6 am at the latest. You could do it if the private taxi doesn't mind those hours, but I wouldn't recommend the ferry as it doesn't allow for enough wiggle room. To play it safe you could take Ken's advice and stay in Milan the night before your flight. It kind of depends on whether you want to take the risk or not. Enjoy your trip! Jessica

Bellagio to Malpensa is a good 2-hour drive if you have no delays whatsoever. At best, you'll be at Malpensa by 7:30 - 7:45. To me, that's shaving it a bit too close for a 9 AM departure. If it were me, I'd absolutely go down the night before.
