I will be staying in Conca Dei Marini and would like to take a boat to Capri.....which is the best way for my party of 11 to get to Capri........I found a private tour boat for 850euro for the day round trip but I would like to find a less expensive way to travel to Capri........
A bus and ferry (hydrofoil) will do. When I was there, I took a bus from Sorrento to Amalfi for a day trip and then a ferry back to Capri from Sorrento. I don't recall the name of the bus company but it was easy to find; same with ferry. It will cost a tiny fraction of the 850 Euro price, which seems outrageous.
We took a ferry right from Amalfi- I want to say it was around 20€ pp one way
www.alicost.it then click on the booking button
You can book online which can be handy if you are there in peak swason.
The booking system is in Italian but simplweto work out.
thanks, I was aware of the ferry from Amalfi but not sure about its availability on the return trip from Capri to Amalfi with a large group during the high season......does anyone know what the crowds are like and how difficult it is to get a ferry back to Amalfi.......
As I said above, if you go to the website I provided you can look at the services on the date you want and book online.
I don't know the ferry schedule but I'm fairly confident they are frequent during high season. These ferries hold a lot of people, so I wouldn't be too worried that you have a party of 11 (if you can book ahead, then great). I never travel with a big group but I would imagine that you would may want to avoid the last ferry out so that you have a bit of a cushion. Going to Capri is a massive and popular tourist operation so there will be lots of people (and ferries to accommodate them, since there's no other way to get there that I know of).
