Transportation between Spain & Portugal

What is shortest & convenient routing by train between the cities in Spain (Madrid & Seveille) and Lisboa ?

I'm planning a trip to Spain & Portugal, and from what I've been able to find, there is no simple, direct train service between Lisbon and Madrid/Seville.

Good news: it's cheap to fly. Vueling has (I think) 2 flights per day each way and they're cheap. Google Vueling and you should find it easily.

If you are heading to Lisbon from Sevilla, the only way to travel (without spending all day) is to take an intercity coach from Sevilla into southern Portugal, then catching a train from there into Lisbon. If you are heading to Lisbon from Madrid, there is only one overnight train (which can be expensive), intercity coach (which is a long trip) or, as mentioned earlier, plane. Vueling and Easyjet both make the flight. The earlier you book, the better fares you will get. Just be careful of luggage charges and restrictions, refund or change conditions, and boarding times.

Dear David & Norm,

Thank you very much for your reply and suggestions. Do you have any information on transportation from Lisbon to Palacio da Pena ?
