Transportation Between Marco Polo Airport & Venice Lido

I'm looking for the easiest (because of luggage) and the cheapest way to get from the airport to Venice Lido. I know a boat goes each way for 12 euros each way per person. That makes it 48 euros round trip for a couple. How about a car taxi or a bus from the airport to the main Venice station and from there the vaporatto? Does anyone know how much the car taxi or bus would cost from the airport one way? Do these options make sense or can anyone offer a better solution? Thanks for the help!

Just take the Alilaguna. It's 12 euros per one way. Exit arrivals, trun left and purchase your tickets inside the terminal. Exit the main terminal, turn left and walk to the dock. Takes about 10 minutes tops. Wait for the boat, get on, get off at the Lido stop and the walk to the hotel.

All the other scenarios will either be only slightly cheaper and involve changing transports or be way expensive for two people (water taxi for about 90 euros)

If you are worrying about luggage now, you may want to take a look at what you are taking and pare down.

Thanks for the response. I agree that the boat probably will be the easiest way to go and that is probably what we will do.

As far as the luggage I have heard that you can only carry one large bag and one hand bag on the boats. They will charge you if you have more bags. Can anyone confirm this? Also what is the extra charge for an extra bag? I'll be in Italy for two weeks so I will have one suitcase, one small carry on and a camera bag.

Anyone know details about luggage and the boats? I also heard there is a place at the airport where you can store some of your luggage for a small fee. Has anyone ever done this? If so, how much does it cost to store a bag? Thanks in advance for any help with these.

Sherilyn,
If you are carrying only one suitcase, one small bag and a camera bag, that is not extra baggage. We had a Rick Steves' backpack, a day pack and our camera. I did not see anyone being charged for any luggage but then maybe they only had the two pieces. We purchased a card for the vaporetto for the 3 days we were in Venice. Just keep it on you. We were only asked to show it a couple times. Google for the information you are looking for. Sorry I can't help you with the cost of the vaporetto from the airport as we arrived by train. Keep your camera at the ready when coming into Venice on the boat.
