Help please. Last minute our flight changed leaving Genoa Airport to Naples at 10 am on a Sunday morning in June. I am assuming we should be at airport for around 9 am. What is the quickest way to get to airport from Manarola? I am reading I have to take a regional train, fast train and a bus! That is too much for a morning. Am I best to stay overnight in Genoa (I hear it is not the best tourist city). I’ve also considered cancelling flight and taking a train to Naples but that is 5-6 hours. Any help is appreciated
I checked that route and see that you could take a direct train at 5:20 am and 6:11 am and . then a bus or taxi to the airport.
If you have a 10:00 flight Genoa to Naples, you would land 10:45-11:00. You would be in central Naples about 11:30-12:00
I just checked on http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en For Sunday 3rd June
Manarola depart 06:35, La Spezia Centrale arrive 06:50
La Spezia Centrale depart 07:09, Roma Termini arrive 10:05
Roma Termini depart 10:53, Napoli Centrale arrive 12:00
Price from €40.80
That is about the same time, one less change of transport, a lot more confortable and probably cheaper if you count in the taxi.
Are you even sure getting to the airport 1 hour before is OK?
I know which I would choose.
I hear it is not the best tourist city
Genoa is no Florence or Venice, but you'll find enough of interest to fill an afternoon and evening.
The airport bus has its origin at the bus stand opposite the Brignole railway station. The AMT website gives you the schedule. I had there once the more than adequate Hotel Moderno.
I would leave with the 9:42 train or even later. What’s the hurry of having to get up at 4 on vacation.
Great thoughts and help everyone! Thank you
Last question, does anyone know if we take the Trenitalia, can you buy the tickets that same day at the train station? If not how far ahead do you have to purchase. I can't find this on their website. I would prefer to purchase that day in case we do choose a later train than 6:35 am.
Yes, you can buy at the station on the day, but it costs more. For High Speed trains, there are 3 levels of tickets, the cheapest sell out first, so if you wait to buy at the station, only the expensive tickets will be left. For Regionale (local) trains, like Manarola to Genoa, there is no discount for advance purchase.
It is a lot cheaper to buy in advance on the Trenitalia website. You get a print-at-home ticket, with seat numbers on it. This is only valid on the train listed, it cannot be used on a different train. For example, 09:24 depart Manarola, arrive Napoli 16:02
Sunday 3rd June: From €48.80
Sunday 11th March, all cheap seats sold out: €72.60
Tomorrow (Thursday 8th March): €82.60
The train times change in mid June. The new times are not yet posted (which is why I chose 1st Sunday in June), but they will be 95% the same.
Got it! Thanks, great information!
