Transport in Milan

Will shortly be travelling from Milan Malpensa Airport to Milan Central Station, and from there to a hotel across town.
Train or bus from the airport? I have used Terravision bus in Rome and it was a good service, so I guess it would be ok in Milan.
Then taxi or Freenow to reach the hotel. We will have luggage.
If taxi, any suggestions for how to avoid being ripped off?
Thanks for any recommendations.

Train to Milano Centrale then taxi ( bus from airport means you are dependent on traffic not slowing you down)
Be sure to go to the official taxi rank

The train (Malpensa Express) is so easy to take to Milano Centrale especially if you are able to travel with not a lot of luggage to keep track of. We bought our tickets in the ticket office after we arrived, bypassing the long lines at the kiosks. Very reasonable cost. I watched YouTube videos to familiarize myself with the layout of the airport/train station that I found very helpful. Just remember to validate your ticket. Happy travels!

If your hotel is close to any of the underground metro stops it’s very easy to use from centrale if you have manageable luggage to walk a little. Just tap in and out with either phone wallet or credit card for payment .

There is also a Malpensa Express that goes to Milano Cadoran (the Nord station). So if your hotel is nearer to that it would be a better use.

The Malpensa Express train from the airport into Milan has 2 lines. Depending exactly where "cross town" your hotel is, you might be closer taking the line that goes to Cadorna station rather than the line to Milan Central. Cadorna station is closer to the Last Supper and the Duomo so some people stay in hotels in that area. That is probably why Sam asked what hotel.

We’ve done both the Malpensa Express to Milan Central then taxi to hotel or Metro to hotel and with luggage. I think it depends on how close your hotel is to a Metro stop. And if it’s after an international flight I opt for the taxi. And as always and as someone mentioned, always official taxi stand!
