Need suggested companies who offer pickup at Rome airport to center city hotel near St. Peters. Also approximate cost and should driver be tipped. One person, late June , probably only one suitcase. Thanks

Which hotel? A good number of them offer a free shuttle service from the airport. A cab from FCO to the historic center of Rome (which includes St. Peters) costs 45 euros, fixed rate, I think. You don't tip.

Mercedes, You could also use the Leonardo Express (train) from FCO to Roma Termini, and then take a Taxi from there. That's the method I usually use. Fares for the Leonardo Express are ~€14 (more if bought at a staffed ticket office), and as this is a Regionale train you MUST be sure to validate your ticket in the yellow machine prior to boarding the train. Those with unvalidated tickets may face hefty fines! Happy travels!

Ken is right on about a much less expensive way to get into the city. A lot of travelers, though, are kind of exhausted after the long flight and just want to be deposited in front of their hotel. :-)

The fixed rate to the St Peters area is 48E. We always tip a little bit, perhaps two Euro by rounding to 50E. I am unaware of any hotel in central Rome that provides free shuttle service. There are a couple around the airport but that is about it. You might ask the hotel for a recommendation. Romecabs.com would arrange a car and driver. You could take the FR1 train (think it is still 8E) to St. Peters and a cab from there. The FR1 leaves from the same place as the Leonard Express. The LE is direct to Termini.

Hands down Rome Cabs (web site is romecabs.com). I used them in 2009 & will use them again in September. They are well reviewed (683 reviews on Trip Advisor & 5 stars) and well respected. They met our flight from L.A. at the airport in Rome & they monitored our flight and knew that it was going to be 5 hours late and they were waiting for us outside of the baggage claim area holding a sign with our name on it. The driver was great; very friendly and he pointed out famous landmarks on our way into Rome. The car was an air-conditioned Mercedes and it was spotlessly clean. The cost is €50 & it was well worth it. Have a great trip.
