We are looking for a reliable and safe way to travel from Sorrento to the Naples airport with luggage. Options we see are: the Naples Airport Shuttle bus (run by Currei Viaggi) leaving from the Sorrento train station; or the Compania Express train to Naples Garibaldi and then take a taxi to the airport. Which do you recommend? Or is there another more reliable option we should consider?

Those are both good options if timing works out for you
I'd prefer the direct bus area than train/taxi combo.
Another option is to hire a driver for the whole trip- probably in 120-150 euro range
We used this company for other transfer in the region and were very pleased

We took the shuttle bus going to Sorrento and a private driver back a week later. The bus was excellent, easy to find, comfortable, quick, and inexpensive. The private driver is wonderful if the cost isn't an issue, especially if you tend to go heavy on the luggage or you are staying a distance from where it departs. Otherwise, don't hesitate to use the shuttle. I wouldn't really recommend the train/taxi combo - will take longer and be less convenient.
