Transport from Rome airport to hotel

We need to arrange transport from the Rome airport (MCO) to our hotel Relais Castrum Boccea in September and also to the Civitaveccia cruise port the next day. What are the best options? Thank you!

Hi Lawrence and welcome to the forum -
First question? Any particular reason you'd booked the accommodation you did? It is a long way from central Rome and its attractions, if you're hoped to visit any of those during your very short stay. Any chance of moving to a hotel closer in?

As far as getting from FCO, you might ask the hotel as they advertise shuttle service, although it's unclear if that includes pickups from the airport. I might also assume that it has a fee as no hotel in Rome, that I'm aware of, provides free airport shuttle service. For that matter you could ask for an est. for shuttle transfer to the port.

Most cruisers choose to stay in Rome before their cruise, and taxis have a fixed rate into the city center. But your hotel appears to be rural. I would suggest looking at some of the private car services. There are several threads on these going to Civitavecchia. I imagine they could accommodate your location as well. Have you asked your hotel for a recommendation?

Hi Lawrence, you could just take a taxi to your hotel when you arrive, but be sure to go to the official taxi stand - not someone who comes up to you and asks if you need a taxi. The second one will charge you much more.

If you are not interested in seeing the city of Rome, there are hotels at the airport which would save you the taxi cost & time, and you could head directly to your cruise port the next day. Or, if you would like to see some of the sites in Rome, hopefully you can switch your lodging to something within the city center.

Ask the hotel for a suggestion and estimate of costs.

The hotel's shuttle service is only between the hotel and the Metro station at Battistini ( per their website).
You would have to ask if they would be able/willing to serve your needs, and at what cost.

Given the hotel's rural location a taxi (or car service), look to be the only practical choices
