Hi. My wife and I will be arriving in Naples June 15 (friday) morning, and need transportation from the Airport there to our hotel in Sorrento. Can anyone suggest the best (easiest and/or cheapest) way to go? Thanks.
Take the bus from the airport to Sorrento. See http://www.sorrentomap.com/trasporti.asp?lng=en&tr=autobus
towards the bottom of the page.
Henry- thanks, if I read correctly then there are several buses on that route. Do you know if the buses are very reliable in that area? My wife is concerned with this.
Also, do you know if the bus will let us off at our hotel, or at a central bus station?
The bus drops you at Piazza Tasso, the middle of town. I am not sure what you mean by reliable. The bus appeared to be in good repair and left and arrived close to the posted times.
take the train! Circumvesuviana trains go right to the middle of Sorrento; I did it last fall. I bought the Campania Artecard that gives access to museum sites as well as the train (http://www.campaniartecard.it/EN/Home.cfm) right at the Naples train station.
The buses that go directly from the Naples airport to Sorrento are run by Curreri Viaggi. Departures are at 09:00, 11:30, 13:00, 14:30, 16:30, and 19:30.
If you arrive at a time that would mean a long wait for one of those buses, you could take either of two more frequent buses to Piazza Garibaldi by the main Naples train station. One runs every 20 minutes and the other every 30 minutes. Then go to the lower level of the train station and take the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento. Trains run at least every 30 minutes.
I am sorry I gave you an outdated link. Try http://www.curreriviaggi.it/ Tim thanks for catching my mistake.
