Transport from airport to Hotel antigo trovatore

Hello,
What transportation do we use to get from airport to Venice Hotel Antigo Trovatore? Is this set up for us or do we do the setting up on our own?

Thank you,
Claudia Hantel

If you are on a RS tour, best to ask that office

Typically you get your own transport to the tour start location

As far as I know all RS tours require you to get to the first hotel on your own. About a month before your tour starts you get a bunch of documents in your tour account. One of these documents will give you some options of getting to your hotel. Towards the end your tour the guide will get departure information from the tour members to assist in coordinating airport transfers or perhaps transfers to train stations.

In general you can check the hotel’s website to see their suggested options or search something like Google maps.

Enjoy the tour!

There are three main ways to get to your hotel from the airport. Here is a map of the location from the hotel website:

The fastest, easiest, and by far the most expensive is to take a water taxi from the airport dock to a dock near your hotel. This can cost over 100€, unless you do one of the shared options. Most people choose one of the cheaper options using public transport.

The Alilaguna is a water bus that serves routes between the airport and various locations around Venice. You can board a boat at the airport dock and take it to the San Zaccaria stop, then walk the short distance up Calle de la Rasse to the hotel. Tickets are 15€ per person if you buy in advance; more if you buy on the dock.

This had the advantage of taking you close to your hotel with no transfers on the way, but we have found these boats to less than ideal—-they ride low in the water, and the windows are generally obscured by salt spray, so the ride across the lagoon is not at all scenic. You must ride seated.

The third way is to take a bus from from the airport to Piazzale Roma, on the island of Venice, and take a vaporetto (water bus) down the Grand Canal to the San Zaccaria stop. This involves a transfer, but we prefer this to the Alilaguna. The vaporetti can be crowded, but since you are boarding at Piazzale Roma you have an advantage over all the people getting on at the train station, which is the next stop. You might even score an outside seat. If not, you can claim a spot on the rail (standing) for the ride and enjoy the views of the palazzi as you move down the canal.

I believe you can buy a combined ticket for this. But in any case, do not board any vaporetto without a ticket, and make sure you validate it by tapping the little machine on the dock before you board. Just watch what other people do if you are uncertain..
