Has anyone gotten a private car transfer from Positano to Pompeii? I see that there are options, but we were told by one company that they drop us off and pick us back up in 2 hours. We want to explore Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius for longer than that. Is it easy to find companies that will drop you off and pick you up later on much later in the day, or is it more common for car transfers to pick you back up in 2 hours?
Also just want to ask about getting from Pompeii to Mount Vesuvius. So far I see the only way to get there with public transportation is to take 808 bus which is about a 55-minute ride and drops you off at the souvenir shop right before the hiking trail starts.
The only other option appears to be getting a taxi from Pompeii to Vesuvius, and this is specifically what I wanted to ask about. Is either option better? I'm sure taxi will be faster. If so, I wanted to ask how to go about getting a taxi. I don't see that Uber is available in that town, are there other apps that I could use in that area where I can call for a taxi, or, do you need to set up a pick up time in advance for a taxi?
