Transfering from Venice Cruise Terminal to Traviso Airport

Our ship will arrive in Venice on 16th April at 9 AM. On the same day, we have a 14:20 flight out of Traviso airport. Do we have enough time to make this flight? How do we get to Traviso airport from Venice cruise terminal?

I'm assuming your ship will dock at the large cruise port. If that is not the case, let us know and we'll try to help you get to the airport from the small cruise port. "The People Mover" is an elevated train that runs a short distance between Piazzale Rome and the big Tronchetto parking area. It has one stop in between that is close to the larger, main cruise terminal. Simply walk to the "People Mover" and take it to P. Roma. Cost 1 Euro each unless it has gone up. Piazzale Roma is basically a big transportation hub for busses. You should be able to get a bus from there to the Traviso airport or a taxi if you prefer. On the other hand, if you have a bit of luggage, you might want to get a private car transfer. Some of them can enter the port area to pick you up, and depending on the number of people in your party it might be as economical as everybody going by bus. Just google "car services in Venice Italy" and see what pops up. Sorry we can't give better specifics but we always use the other airport.

Rome2Rio.com is a good first stop when you're trying to get the answer to the question, "How do I get from A to B", especially if you've never heard of one of the places--indicating that it may not have train service.

Rome2Rio says the Treviso (note the correct spelling) Airport is about 20 miles from Venice and that a taxi could cost somewhere around $100, but the website's cost estimates are not very reliable, and in my experience taxis are often more expensive than the Internet tells us. Still, if you are in a party of more than 2 or run into delays getting off the ship and can get a taxi to agree to take you for a pre-negotiated fare, that would not be a bad solution.

There's a bus company, ATVO, that runs buses to the Treviso Airport. If you arrive at the port near Piazzale Roma, you will need the "Venice P.le Roma - Mestre - Treviso Airport" bus. You are traveling on a Sunday; be sure to scroll down and find the right section of the schedule chart. That schedule is good until late March, but I imagine there won't be too many changes for April. It appears that the fare is 12 euros if bought online; it may be somewhat higher if you buy tickets in person, which you may opt to do if you're not confident of your timing. It looks as if you can make your flight easily as long as there's no delay getting off your cruise ship.

There is also a combination train/bus (or train/taxi) option. You could take TrenItalia from Venice to Treviso and then a bus (or taxi) from that city to the airport. I've linked to the website where you can check the schedule and fare. You'd be traveling from Venezia S. Lucia to Treviso Centrale. The train fare is 3.40 euros.

Once in Treviso you could get a bus to the airport. I've linked to the winter schedule, which I suspect will still be in use in April. Go to Page 2. Only the buses marked with a capital "F" at the top run on Sundays. I have never been to Treviso and do not know how far apart the train and bus stations are. In most cities they are very close together.

Following TC directions you will have enough time. Prior to getting off the ship, the cruise line will assign a departure time for you depending on your flight schedule. Obviously people with earlier flight will be assigned earlier times for departure but the cruise line is aware of the time needs.

We've taken the ATVO bus from Treviso to Venice. It was fine - it took about an hour. We bought our tickets on-site at about 12 Euros, I think. I looked into car services - there were lots of them at about $65.
