Transfer train tickets to someone else from my Trenitalia account

Hi all,

I booked train tickets for our full group on my Trenitalia account. Is there a way to transfer those tickets to the individuals whose name is on the ticket? That way they can download the app and have it on their phone in case we're separated.

Backstory, we had booked Bologna to Poggibonsi (via Florence) and then later decided we'll pick up the rental car in Florence that day, so we won't use the regional tickets from Florence to Poggibonsi that day. We will drop off the car in Florence a few days later and spend the day in the city. We'll then plan to take the train back to Poggibonsi that evening, so I was able to go in and change the date and time for the regional ticket on the original reservation to this new date and time.

My plan was to send these new regional tickets to the other individuals (their names appear on the tickets) in case we get separated, but I don't see a place on the booking to do that. I was then going to just send them pdf's of the ticket, but it shows that the ticket is "not valid for travel". I know that the ticket will automatically be validated on the date and time listed on the ticket, but will they have any issues with having a pdf that says their ticket isn't valid? There is no QR code on this pdf. Ideally we'll all be together on the train, but things happen and I'd prefer not to have them get fined if the pdf isn't enough for them to show the conductor.

When I traveled with a group, I printed them out. That turned out to be a good thing as my son left his wallet in MENAGGIO and had to return by ferry the day we were moving from Lake Como to Verona. He and his now wife took a later train using the same tickets.

Yes, just print them with a copy for each person.
You can also screenshot them to have in case you can’t scan them from the app for some reason.
Send the screenshots to each person.
One more thing: you could also give your account login and password for the train apps to each person.

Thanks for the great ideas! I also have the email that has the QR code and the link to add to the Apple Wallet, so they could use that if needed. And print copies as well. Appreciate it!

Every ticket should have a PNR number on it. What the others can do is:
- Download the Trenitalia App.
- In the app click on "my journeys" then "retrieve another ticket".
There the ticket can be retrieved.

Regional tickets can be changed (as you found out) and can also be cancelled so if you are not going to use the tickets you can just cancel them.
On the day itself you can no longer change the date, but you can still change the departure time, using the app. Convenient if for whatever reason you stay longer (or leave earlier) in Florence.

All you need is the ticket. Names are generally not attached to ticket. There is no security, id check or anything similar to an airline ticket. All you need is a valid ticket.

Thanks all! I've printed paper tickets for everyone that would need one. Plan is we'll all be together, but you know....things happen! :-)
