Transfer question for Village Italy - Venice to Padova

Here's one for those of you who took this tour: my wife and I will be arriving at Marco Polo in Venice and need to get to our hotel in Padova. What means of transport do you suggest? Train, bus, or taxi? Costs? Right now, I'm thinking taxi but unsure of the costs compared to the bus/train.Thanks.

You can check out the options at a high level on rome2rio.com, which tells me a taxi is likely to cost $150 - $180. There are very reasonably priced bus (change at Piazzale Roma) and bus/train (change at Venezia-Mestre RR station) options. The bus/train combo seems to run twice an hour. Clicking through the links on rome2rio will take you to web pages for the appropriate bus lines.

A taxi might be a good idea from the Padova RR station to your hotel, depending on the location of the latter.

We've taken this tour twice (went back with friends because we had such a great time!). We went directly to Padua the first time..regretted not staying in Venice for a few days before the tour started. We found the bus was wonderful (as mentioned, one easy transfer) ....the bus area is right outside the airport terminal... when you arrive at the Padua bus station just taxi to your hotel. For our second trip, we stayed in Venice for four days and then took the train to Padua...again, easy to do. I think that if we were going directly from the airport to Padua we would definitely take the bus. We had carry-on bags and Eddie Bauer (not too huge) backpacks..
You're going to have so much fun!

There is indeed a convenient bus connection from Marco Polo airport. In Padua (Padova) the bus terminates near the railway station, from where you can easily find a taxi to your hotel.

We have used this airport transfer service - www.airservicepadova.it/en -
excellent door to door service - they picked up and drop off at your address
33 Euros per person/58 Euros per couple

I also recommend the direct bus that Laura suggests - alternatively, if your schedule does allow any time to see Venice, you could take the #5 bus from the airport to Piazzale Roma, check your bags at the train station across the way, see what you can, then take the train to Padova. Trains are very frequent and take ~1/2 hour.

Find out where your hotel is from RS. Depending on the location, you can take the tram from in front of the train station (bus station just 300 ft next door). It runs through the center of Padua, and many of the hotels RS uses are located just off the tram stops. If you are traveling light ala RS, should be no problem. Tickets can be bought in the Padova Tourist office outside the train station door. About 1 euro pp.

We're staying at the Albergo Fagiano, which is located a stone's throw from the Prato della Valle and the Basilica Sant'Antonio di Padova, just off Riviera Brusinello if that helps.
