Transfer from Venice to Ljubjana

We will be using GoOpti next Fall to transfer from Venice to Ljubjana. Looking at there website the options are to start at either the train station or airport. We are interested in a shared ride.

We would appreciate any feedback about your experience. Would you recommend one starting & ending point over the other?

From what I've read the reviews have been positive about this company.

Thanks

Which train station? The main station on the islands is Venezia Santa Lucia. But, there are no roads to this station, just footpaths and canals. The nearest (and only) place on the islands a bus could reach is Piazzale Roma, about a 5 minute walk away across bridges.
The alternative station on the mainland is Venezia Mestre.

If you decide on a station pick-up, be sure which station.

If flying in, start at the airport.

Planning the same transfer next September. Since we will be arriving by air, plan to leave from airport. Used GoOpti twice in 2015, Venice (airport) to Rijeka (train station), and Ljubljana (downtown hotel) to Bologna (train station). Very dependable, on time, and good drivers. My friend and I were the only passengers on the first trip, there were about 6 of us on the second. JJ

We will be in Venice for a week prior to transferring to Ljubjana. Yes we are aware there are two train stations. We will probably do the train station transfers. Looks like the train station in Ljubjana is closer to the city center vs the airport.

I've used GoOpti in the past several times and have enjoyed each transfer. I did Venice to Ljubljana once. I believe we left from the parking garage near the port where the cruise ships stop. Perhaps they have changed their pickup location. I do remember a sort of out of the way stop to pick up passengers at Treviso airport with a short (about 30 mins) wait time. There were other stops along the way to use the bathroom and what not. I recommend you transfer to the train station in Ljubljana as it's definitely closer to the center of town. If you need food recs in Ljubljana (which I found to have some of the best food I've ever had) shoot me a message.

Ljubljana is really small for a city and very walkable. Yes, the train/bus station is close to the center - I've walked from there to my lodgings several times. But GoOpti will drop you anywhere in Ljubljana (outside the pedestrian-only areas) for an extra fee I believe. In Venice, won't they pick you up at Piazzale Roma where all the other buses pick up? Otherwise, take a quick train to Mestre train station on the mainland.

Thanks to all for your recommendations. We have booked from Piazzale Roma
to the main railway station in Ljubjana. Great rates booking early!
