Transfer from T1 to T3 in FCO after picking up my luggage

I will be arriving on Alitalia to Terminal 1 at FCO. I need to meet a friend arriving on Iberia at Terminal 3 one and a half hour later. I know I have to check through customs and pick up my luggage. I have a medium size bag on spinners and a carryon. I also know T1 and T3 are connected. My question is as follows:
- Is it an easy walk from one Terminal to the other with luggage on toll? I am fit, but a very senior citizen.
- Where could I meet my friend after she checks customs on T3? Is it easy for me to walk to her baggage claim exit? Do I have to exit T3 to come back in?
- We will have a driver pick us up from FCO. I imagine the regular pick-up spot is near her baggage pick-up exit, correct?

I appreciate any help you can provide.

The distance between T1 and T3 is a short walk. Exit T1, turn right, and walk along the sidewalk to T3...less than 5 minutes.

Your friend will exit into the lobby after passing customs, which is after the luggage pick-up.

To the left after exiting customs, the doors are frosted, there is a support column with the words, "Meeting place" painted on it. You could meet her there. Or, if for some reason you are delayed, tell her to wait at the meeting place until you arrive.

You can have the driver meet you anywhere you like. Generally, most people arriving at T3 and having a driver will find the driver outside the customs exit holding a sign with your name on it at an arranged time.

Are you sure you arrive at T1? Alitalia uses both T1 and T3, depending on which flight. The drivers generally wait in the arrival hall. The T3 baggage claim is in the sterile area, so the drivers can’t go all the way there (and neither can you).

You are right! I will verfy the terminal. I was told 1. If it is 3, I am set.

Hi! I have another question. I arrive on American Airlines to Terminal 3 at Heathrow airport and need to to get to Terminal 4 for an Alitalia flight to Rome. Time is not an issue because I have 6 hours to clear customs.

Upon my return I need to go to the Hyatt Hotel on Bath Rd. I read I can take the Bus Hopper. Do you know how much it costs? Do I just follow signs after luggage pick up to the shuttle? Is it close to exit?
